Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Traffic Control

  • Control and direct traffic safely in and around work zones.

  • Read and follow site-specific traffic control instructions and plans.

  • Maintain full attention and remain alert while  directing traffic.

  • Position yourself where you are visible to traffic  and can safely monitor approaching vehicles.

  • Stop, slow, and release traffic as required by work  activities.

  • Communicate effectively with Traffic Control Workers and site personnel.

  • Ensure communication equipment, signage, cones, and  protective devices are clean, visible, functional, and properly positioned.

  • Provide motorists with clear and courteous directions.

  • Report dangerous motorists or unsafe conditions to  the Site Supervisor.

  • Review assigned tasks, equipment movement, and potential worksite hazards.

  • Transport and inspect required tools and equipment  before use.

  • Set up traffic control measures as directed by the Site Supervisor.

  • Assist with construction activities, material  handling, site preparation, and cleanup.

  • Apply appropriate construction methods, materials,  and tools.

  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and Site Supervisor instructions.

General Responsibilities

  • Wear all required CSA-approved PPE.

  • Inspect the worksite daily and report hazards or  unsafe conditions.

  • Maintain a safe and organized work area.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Skills

Experience

  • Previous Traffic Control or Labor experience is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability  to operate required equipment safely and responsibly.

  • Effective communication and listening skills.

  • Reliable, dependable, and able to manage time effectively.

  • Ability to work independently and follow assigned schedules and instructions.

  • Physically able to lift heavy objects, stand and walk for extended periods, and  perform tasks in varying weather conditions.

  • Valid driver’s licence is an asset.

  • Safety-conscious, dependable, and team-oriented.

  • May be required to work out of town.

  • Work is primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to all weather conditions.
